Introducing Our New Trainee Solicitors: Priya, Ciara and Nadiyah
This July, we’re pleased to announce three new trainee solicitors to Machins Solicitors. Each brings a strong academic background, valuable experience, and a clear commitment to developing their legal careers.
Priya Mahey

Priya completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Hertfordshire and her postgraduate studies at the University of Law, Bloomsbury. Her interest in law is rooted in a desire to help others and was shaped by the work of Cornelia Sorabji, a pioneering Indian lawyer and social reformer. She has been working as a paralegal in the Residential Conveyancing Department at Machins, which has given her valuable insight into the firm’s approach and client service. She was drawn to Machins for the opportunity to gain experience across a range of legal areas and is particularly interested in Employment, Disputes, and Private Client work. Outside of work, Priya enjoys reading, spending time with her cat Pickles, and creating resin keepsakes from dried flowers.
Ciara James

Ciara studied law at the University of Reading and completed her LPC at the University of Law, Reading Campus. Her interest in law began somewhat unexpectedly after attending a university open day, but it quickly developed into a genuine passion as she progressed through her studies. She values the opportunity to support people through challenging times and help them find practical solutions. Ciara chose Machins for its reputation as a client-focused and supportive firm. She’s already explored the public side of family law as a paralegal, so she’s particularly looking forward to comparing that experience with private family law, which is her first seat. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, going to the theatre, and spending time with her young nephew.
Nadiyah Khanum

Nadiyah joins the trainee programme with over four years of paralegal experience at Machins. She studied at City University of London and completed her LPC LLM at the University of Law, Bloomsbury. Her decision to pursue law came from a genuine interest in the subject and a strong sense that it was the right fit. Having already worked closely with colleagues across the firm, Nadiyah is looking forward to exploring new areas – starting with public family law. Outside of work, she’s passionate about fitness and enjoys a varied training routine that includes strength work, boxing, and running.
Looking Ahead
We’re pleased to support Ciara, Nadiyah, and Priya as they begin their training contracts. Their individual paths to law reflect a shared commitment to learning, growth, and contributing meaningfully to the profession. We look forward to watching them grow and develop as they rotate through different seats and gain exposure to various areas of law.
