We are delighted to announce the promotion of Victoria Grant to Senior Associate in the Family team. Victoria, a 5‑year PQE solicitor, has built an exceptional reputation for her expertise in complex financial remedy matters, private children cases, and those involving domestic abuse – often supporting clients through some of the most challenging periods of their lives with clarity, compassion, and strategic guidance.

Victoria joined Machins in January 2017 after graduating from the University of Warwick. Beginning her career as a paralegal in the Private Client team, she commenced her training contract in 2019, gaining broad experience across family, public law, company commercial, and commercial property departments. She qualified into the Private Family team in July 2021, quickly developing a strong specialism in private children law and financial cases. She qualified as a Resolution Accredited specialist in May 2023.

A defining feature of Victoria’s practice is her commitment to undertaking her own advocacy. She regularly appears at First Hearings, FHDRA’s, and across a wide range of Children Act and Family Law Act proceedings, ensuring continuity and cost-effective representation for her clients. Her hands-on approach has strengthened both her litigation skills and client confidence.

Beyond her casework, Victoria is a passionate contributor to the wider legal community. As Chair of Hertfordshire YRes (a committee of junior family law solicitors in Hertfordshire and the surrounding area), she leads initiatives that support junior family lawyers through training, networking, and professional development. She also volunteers at the University of Hertfordshire’s pro bono legal clinic and participates in the Hertfordshire Family Justice Board Duty Solicitor Scheme.

Within Machins, Victoria plays an active role in strengthening the firm’s culture. She leads the firm’s Mental Health Committee, helping to organise initiatives and events that foster collaboration and community across the firm. She also mentors a current trainee solicitor, meeting regularly to offer guidance, share her experiences, and support the trainee’s development – something she values deeply, having once been a Machins trainee herself.

Victoria’s promotion reflects her technical excellence, commitment to access to justice, and her invaluable contributions to the firm and the local legal community. Machins congratulates her on this well‑deserved achievement and wish her continued success.
