Celebrating Simeon Clipstone’s Career and Looking Ahead to His New Ambassador Role
When Simeon Clipstone joined Machins, the plan was simple: spend his final couple of years in practice at the firm before retirement. Nearly eight years later, he is stepping down as a Partner and beginning a new chapter as Firm Ambassador.
After more than 40 years in the legal profession, Simeon leaves behind a distinguished career in commercial property. His first experience of legal work came while studying law at Hatfield Polytechnic, shortly before it became the University of Hertfordshire, when he answered an advertisement from a local law firm to assist barristers with court matters.

After qualifying as a solicitor in 1990, Simeon began his legal career working on a wide range of commercial property matters, including major acquisitions and redevelopment projects in central London. Over the following three decades, he built a successful career in the legal profession, progressing to Equity Partner and leading Commercial and Residential Property teams before joining Machins.
During his time at Machins, Simeon served as Head of Commercial Property, playing an important role in the continued growth and development of the team. He helped strengthen the department, attract experienced lawyers and further enhance the team’s expertise.
The team’s growth and success have also been reflected in its external recognition. Looking back, Simeon cites the department’s continued progress in the Legal 500 rankings as a particular highlight of his time with the firm.
“As the team grew in number and in the wealth of experience those people brought with them, it became natural that we achieved promotion in the rankings. It has been rewarding to see that progress recognised.”
While retiring from legal practice, Simeon will remain an important part of Machins in his new role as Firm Ambassador. Although he will no longer be involved in transactional matters, he will continue to support the firm through business development activities and by maintaining the many professional relationships he has built throughout his career.
“I have built strong and lasting relationships with clients and those who introduce new clients to us. My new role will focus on preserving those relationships and generating new opportunities for the firm.”
The role will see Simeon representing Machins at networking events and within the wider business community, helping to strengthen existing connections and develop new ones.
Away from work, Simeon is looking forward to spending more time pursuing his personal interests. A lifelong cricket enthusiast, he plans to return to coaching young players and helping the next generation develop their skills and confidence. He and his wife are also looking forward to further travel, including another trip to Australia, while leaving plenty of time for golf along the way.
Neil O’Callaghan, Managing Partner at Machins, said:
“Simeon has made a significant contribution to the firm during his time at Machins. He is highly respected by clients, colleagues and professional contacts alike, and his experience, commercial insight and commitment to building strong relationships have been invaluable. We are delighted that Simeon will continue to be involved with the firm as a Firm Ambassador and look forward to working with him in this new capacity. On behalf of everyone at Machins, I would like to thank him for his contribution and wish well spending more time pursuing his passions outside of work.”
