Amelia Chivers – Company Commercial

Amelia Chivers - Solicitor in Company Commercial

Amelia joined Machins in October 2022 and has now qualified into our Company Commercial department, where she will support clients with a range of business-related legal matters, including commercial contracts and corporate transactions. Her training included seats in Private Client, Public Family, Dispute Resolution, and Company Commercial. A standout moment came during her Dispute Resolution seat, when she represented a client in court—an unexpected but rewarding experience that helped build her confidence and broaden her skills. Amelia is currently taking a well-earned summer break after six years of study and training. On her return, she’s looking forward to continuing her development within the Company Commercial team. Her advice to future trainees: “Embrace every department fully. Each one offers unique learning opportunities that contribute to your growth as a solicitor.”

“Amelia is laser focused on what needs to be done and achieved and I believe that our clients and referrers will be well looked after by her. She will initially focus on corporate governance, business sales and purchases and commercial contracts – I wish Amelia every success. I shall endeavour to support her as she starts her life as a qualified lawyer as one never knows, she may play a vital part in my future!”
– Jon Alvarez – Partner, Commercial Department

Bradley Ramsay – Dispute Resolution

Bradley Ramsay - Solicitor - Machins Solicitors

Bradley joined Machins in July 2022 as a paralegal in the Company Commercial team before starting his training contract in 2023. He has now qualified into the Dispute Resolution department, where he will focus on property litigation. His training included seats in Dispute Resolution, Private Client, and Commercial Property, with a return to Disputes for his final seat.

A defining part of his training was being trusted to take the lead on managing client files—under supervision—which offered a real sense of responsibility and gave him invaluable insight into the practical realities of life as a solicitor. Bradley is looking forward to building on this foundation as he begins his career in litigation. Reflecting on his experience, he encourages future trainees to stay open-minded: “Every seat offers valuable skills beyond legal knowledge—communication, organisation, and learning from different working styles all contribute to your development.

“We are delighted that Bradley Ramsay, having successfully completed his training contract with Machins, will join the Dispute Resolution Team. He will be specialising in property disputes, including residential repossessions, commercial evictions and forfeitures, and statutory lease renewals.”
– Neil O’Callaghan, Partner, Dispute Resolution Department
