Location: Office based – Luton, Bedfordshire
We are looking for a proactive and driven Public Family Paralegal to join our dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience, supporting solicitors on a wide range of public law legal aid matters, including care proceedings and related applications. You will be involved in all stages of the legal process, from initial client contact through to court hearings, giving you great exposure to this rewarding area of law. This role offers the chance to develop your skills and knowledge within a collaborative and supportive team environment.

Our busy Public Family team, which is Legal 500 Tier 1 recognised, are a great team to work with and are now seeking to appoint a Paralegal to join the team. The role is based in our Luton office, but the successful applicant will be expected to support out at court or at client meetings. Key responsibilities
As a Paralegal you may be asked to support with any of the following:
- Providing proactive support to solicitors on care proceedings and a broad range of public family law matters.
- Drafting and preparing legal documents, including applications, witness statements, briefs and correspondence under Solicitor supervision.
- Attending client meetings and taking instructions.
- Acting as a key point of contact with courts, counsel, local authorities, experts and external agencies liaising in a professional and confidential manner.
- Managing files from opening to closure, ensuring all administration tasks are completed accurately and in compliance with Legal Aid requirements and internal procedures.
- Assisting with legal aid applications amendments and billing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to finding regulations.
- Delivering excellent client care, communication and support throughout proceedings.
- Supporting the wider team with administrative and legal tasks as required.
- Preparing court bundles and assisting with hearing preparation.
- Attending court hearings where require, taking notes and assisting fee earners with follow up actions.
- Providing ongoing support to all fee earners in the department.
- Support as and when requested in firm-wide and departmental marketing events.

About you
- Previous experience as a Paralegal, preferably in Public Family is desirable, although other experience will be considered.
- Strong academic ability including degree in law (LLB or equivalent) or completion of Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A friendly, professional manner and a genuine commitment to client care.
- Personal pride in the quality of their work which should be to a high standard and delivered within the required timeframes.
- Experience in the use of a case management system would be advantageous.
