Solicitor – Public Family – Children
We are seeking a solicitor to join our Public Family Team in Luton.

Our busy Public Family Team, which is Legal 500 Tier 1 recognised, are a great team to work with and they are looking for another solicitor with Public Law, Children experience to join them. The role is based in our Luton office, but the successful applicant will be expected to support out at court or at client meetings. Key responsibilities
As a member of the fee earning team responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Public Law Family Team
- Dealing with new enquiries and building on established contacts with Local Authority’s
- Dealing with client work including court proceedings, providing advice in writing, over the phone or during meetings, maintaining accurate records and meeting notes, and carrying out advocacy (where appropriate)
- Adherence to compliance policies and procedures
- Management of client expectations
- Management of risk
- Dealing with new enquiries directly with clients
- Case and file management
- Supporting in the development of other team members
- Participation in CPD
- Support in the wider Firm business development initiatives
- Participation in charity and networking events
We are looking for someone with:
- 4+ PQE working in family law and ideally the Care sector
- The ideal candidate would also either be on the Law Society Children Panel or ready to apply
- Experience of preparing and managing funding applications to the Legal Aid Agency
- Personal pride in the quality of their work which should be to a high standard
- Knowledge of the requirements of Lexcel
- Strong communication skills both in writing and orally with a wide range of people
- IT literate (including the use of case management systems, MS Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Self-motivated and able to perform to targets
- Ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with colleagues at all levels
- Efficiency, reliability and flexibility
- Ability to respond to short deadlines
- Excellent file management skills with good time management skills
- Valid driving licence
