Ideally, the candidate will:

  • possess 3-4 years’ PQE with in Employment law. We are happy to consider applications of candidates who fall outside of this PQE range but who possess the requisite experience;
  • come from a recognised commercial firm where they will have handled good quality employment work representing employers and respondent clients doing a mix of both contentious and non-contentious employment;
  • have solid experience and academics;
  • have strong written and oral communication skills
  • take responsibility for their own caseload subject to supervision
  • have the ability to deal with competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • have plenty of self-confidence which is essential as you will have client contact from the outset
  • share the firm’s ethos of providing exceptional client care, show understanding of our client’s needs and tailor your advice appropriately, work to understand the team’s key clients, the industry they operate in and the challenges they face; and
  • play an active role in marketing and practice dev

About the role

The firm is entering an exciting period of growth. They are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Employment solicitor with 3-4 years’ PQE to join their busy Employment team.

This role will see you play a key role in the team, working closely with the partners to both consolidate and help the department grow through various business development initiatives.

The team has a wealth of expertise acting for both employers and employees in all aspects of Employment law. The team typically advise on employment contracts, restrictive covenants, TUPE, redundancy, unfair dismissal, discrimination claims and “Business As Usual” day-to-day employee issues such as disciplinary and grievances, performance and absence management; terminations and settlement agreements; drafting the full range of employment documentation; contracts, service agreements, HR policies and procedures and supporting correspondence. You will be advising a diverse array of clients on a wide range of non-contentious and contentious employment matters (advising respondent and claimant clients in the Employment Tribunal and High Court).

You will also provide support to the firm’s company/commercial team on employment related aspects of corporate transactions to include reviewing due diligence, advising upon and drafting warranties and indemnities, service agreements and consultancy agreements.
