Secure Accommodation Proceedings
Secure Accommodation Orders let the Local Authority place a child who has a history of running away and as a result is likely to suffer significant harm, in accommodation which restricts a child’s liberty and prevents them from absconding.
What happens if the court decides the Secure Accommodation criteria is satisfied?
If the Court is satisfied that the criteria is met, it has to make an Order authorising the child to be kept in Secure Accommodation and will confirm the maximum period of time that the child can be kept there. For the first Order the Secure Accommodation Order can last up to three months and the Order can be renewed.
If the Court makes an Order it can last up to 3 months. After that it can be renewed for up to 6 months a time.
How can we help you?
We will work with you and give you practical advice as to the Secure Accommodation Proceedings. We can represent you at Court.
Legal Aid is automatic if you are the child. If you are the parent of the child it will be assessed based on your income and the merits of your case. If you have any questions or would like to speak to a member of our family team, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
