Sportsperson visa (T2)
Sportsperson Visa (T2) is for elite sportspersons and qualified coaches considered to be at the highest level of their chosen sport who are sponsored on long term contracts by a UK sporting governing body.

The relevant Sporting governing bodies must endorse those applying in this Immigration category. Persons intending to enter this Immigration category should be able to make a substantial contribution to their chosen sport.
To obtain the Sportsperson Visa (T2) visa or Sportsperson Leave (T2) those applying will need to obtain a certificate of sponsorship from an approved sponsor. Sportspersons may remain in the UK for up to 3 years following the grant of their initial grant, which they apply to extend.
Persons with a visa or leave in this Immigration category may be able to apply for Settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain) after spending 5 years on this Immigration route.
Sportspersons intending to remain in the UK for short term contracts for 12 months or less may apply for the Temporary Worker – Creative and Sporting Visa (T5).
If you intend to apply for the Sportsperson Visa (T2) visa or leave, your dependants may be able to accompany you.
