Long Residence applications can be made by persons who have remained in the UK lawfully for at least 10 years and who satisfy other criteria set out in the Immigration Rules.

Amongst other requirements those applying should not have been outside the UK for more than 6 months at any one time and should also not have absences of more than 18 months for the period in question.
In addition to the above, those applying should not have breached the Immigration rules or done anything to suggest that there might not be of good character.
